Good News or Bad!

January 03, 20243 min read

Whether we watch or listen to news broadcasts or not there is always someone who is more than willing to unburden themselves in our presence.

How interesting it is that when our acquaintances are recounting the bad news their concern demands an agreement as to how bad the situation is.

Then there is the group who regardless of what the news is, maybe they are more expert on what is actually happening than anyone else who is listening.

You know these people, perhaps you are one of them, the eternal pessimist and they are experts on eternal pessimism. This is not meant as a criticism - I would just like to present another side to this.

Yes, of course there are wars and rumours of wars. If we look back at history we see wars and rumours of wars - unfortunately that is the fallen nature of mankind. Then, there are earthquakes, floods, droughts and all varieties of natural disasters. History has previously chronicled all of them in great detail.

I am not in denial! I have faith in the One True Living God who gave us ‘roadways in the wilderness and rivers in the desert’.

I can’t speak to what that scripture may say to you personally. However, when I read that it says to me; no matter what kind of hopeless situation I may find myself in, my God has a specially designed strategy for me. This strategy will navigate my course out of the present desert or wilderness.

As an aside I see the desert or wilderness as a situation where God does not appear to be with us and yet He is!

As we stop and turn to Him, He delivers the exit strategy by Virtue of Holy Spirit (that can be by many different delivery methods, that’s for another day).

Right now I want to share with you a very precious scripture the Lord revealed to me;

Proverbs 1:33 ‘But he who listens to me shall live securely and will be at ease from the dread of evil’ NAS

I also love the way the Passion Translation interprets this verse

‘But the one who always listens to me will live undisturbed a heavenly peace. Free from fear, confident and courageous, you will rest unafraid and sheltered from the storms of life.’

Draw close to God, listen for His strategies and let Him keep you in that ‘God Bubble’ of protection.

It is important for us to remember when we listen to Our Loving Heavenly Father that we actually hear Him. Having heard Him, when He gives us a word, a plan or a strategy - we just do it.

So regardless of what the world would throw at us, let’s stop looking at those circumstances or situations and look to heaven. Let's look to Jesus who is the author and finisher of our Faith!

God has got us!
